TEENS Publish (8-week program for teen writers & illustrators)

Application required (available May 1, 2016, at the Ringer Library Reference Desk), limited to 20 teens
Aspiring writers and illustrators in 7th-12th grade are invited to apply for TEENS Publish, a free 8-week summer program. Author Molly Blaisdell (who also writes as Cece Barlow) will lead weekly workshops every Wednesday in June and July except July 6. The group will meet from 2:30 to 5:00. Teens will complete one polished piece by the end of the 8-week program, and each participant will choose whether that will be a short story, the first chapter of a novel, a nonfiction article, poetry, or illustrations. Each week of the program will focus on a different topic related to writing or illustrating and publishing. By the end of the program, the library will compile and publish an anthology of teens' work. Each person will be limited to 3000 words or 12 pages. After first publication, all rights will revert to the authors. For more information, contact Kendra at kperkins@bryantx.gov or (979)764-3416.

Volunteering

Volunteer applications are available online and at the libraries. Applications have been updated.
All volunteers now need to fill out a City of Bryan volunteer application, and anyone under age needs a Minor Work Release form.

At Ringer Library (CS), TAB members (7th-12th grade) may help with summer programs. High school students (9th-12th grade) can apply by Saturday, April 30, 2016 and attend a mandatory orientation on May 7 for the Job Skills Training Program. Ask Cindy for more details at (979) 764-3416.

At Mounce Library (Bryan), ask Elaine at (979) 209-5615 for information about applications, guidelines, and deadlines.
