Scribes & Sketchers (Mounce Library, Bryan, Tuesday, 6/18/13, 2:00 - 4:00 PM)
Scribes & Sketchers is a program for aspiring teen authors and illustrators. Registration is required, and there are only 30 spots. Contact Sam for more information or to sign up. Bryan Summer Events for Teens & Tweens
In June, July & August, Clara B. Mounce Public Library will be holding events for teens and tweens at 3:30 on the first Thursday of the month, and Scribes & Sketchers will be meeting every Tuesday at 2:00 (reservations required). If you have any questions, contact Sam at (979) 209-5600.
College Station Summer Events for Teens & Tweens
In June and July, Larry J. Ringer Library will be holding events for teens at 1:00 on Mondays, for teens and tweens at 6:00 on Mondays, and for tweens at 1:00 on Fridays. If you have any questions, contact Kendra at (979) 764-3416.
Teen/Tween Pool Parties
Larry J. Ringer Library will be holding a teen/tween pool party at Adamson Lagoon (College Station) on Monday, July 29. To attend this party, you must attend at least one teen and/or tween event at Larry J. Ringer Library and have a signed permission slip (available at Larry J. Ringer Library teen and tween events). Clara B. Mounce Public Library will be holding a teen/tween pool party at Sue Haswell Park (Bryan) on Thursday, August 22. To attend this party, you must reach halfway on the Mounce Public Library teen/tween reading log and have a signed permission slip (available from Sam). Contact Sam at (979) 209-5600 with any questions.
Teen/Tween Summer Reading Logs
Larry J. Ringer Library has teen/tween reading logs available at the Reference Desk for ages 9 to 19 or those who have completed 4th - 12th grade. The reading logs say "Beneath the Surface" on one side and have 20 lines on the other side. You may keep track of the titles of the books you read or the days you read. When you complete half the reading log, bring it in for a small prize, and when you complete the whole reading log, bring it in for a free book. If you have completed your reading log and would like a bonus log, check back with Kendra to find out when the bonus logs will be available. Contact Kendra at (979) 764-3416 with any questions.
Clara B. Mounce Public Library has teen/tween reading logs available at the upstairs reference desk for those going into 5th-12th grade. On the Mounce Library reading logs, you color in one letter for each day that you read. Bring your reading log in for a prize when you reach halfway and when you get to the end. Monthly Events
LJRL Animé Club (Ringer Library, College Station, 6/27/13)
The LJRL Animé Club usually meets the last Thursday of every month from 3:45 - 5:30 PM at Larry J. Ringer Library. Teens can watch free animé videos rated PG or TV-14. Contact Kendra for more information or to suggest videos. Our next meeting is Thursday, June 27, 2013.
Teen Book Club (Mounce Library, Bryan, 7/7/13)
All teens 12-18 years old are invited to join the Clara B. Mounce Public Library Teen Book Club, which meets from 2 to 3 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month. The next meeting is from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 2 at Clara B. Mounce Public Library in Bryan. The club will be discussing City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. Books & Beans Book Club (Mounce Library, Bryan, 7/14/13)
The Books & Beans Book Club is a book club for coffee lovers, and both teens and adults are welcome. The club meets once a month on a Sunday afternoon. The next meeting is from 4:00 to 5:15 on Sunday, July 14 at Clara B. Mounce Public Library in Bryan. The club will be discussing The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Storyteller Donna Ingham, Texas Tales for Teens
Storyteller Donna Ingham came to Ringer Library to tell Texas tales for teens on Friday, April 4, 2013.
Craft Programs
Ringer Library has had some recent craft programs, including a Valentine program, a program with string Easter eggs, and a magazine-recyling program where we made beads and baskets. For more information about these and future craft programs, check with the Reference Desk at (979) 764-3416.

Keren David
Author Keren David visited with the Mounce Library's Teen Book Club over Skype on August 5, 2012. Keren David is the author of When I Was Joe.
Molly Blaisdell - Teen Novel Boot Camp
Local author Molly Blaisdell held a novel-writing workshop for teens (ages 10 to 19) at Ringer Library on Tuesday, November 6, in honor of National Novel Writing Month. Molly Blaisdell writes books for children and books for teens. Her YA comedy, Plumb Crazy, was a semi-finalist in the 2012 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Contest, Young Adult Division.
Rosemary Clement-Moore
Author Rosemary Clement-Moore was at the May meeting of the LJRL Teen Book Club, and she stayed for another hour for a general visit on May 2, 2012. Rosemary writes young adult supernatural mysteries including Texas Gothic, The Splendor Falls, and the Maggie Quinn: Girl vs. Evil series. She talked about her books, about reading, and about writing, and she brought some books to give out as door prizes. The library has Texas Gothic and all three books of the Maggie Quinn series in its eBook collection.
Sophie Jordan
Author Sophie Jordan was at the Ringer Library for a visit on July 15, 2012. Sophie Jordan is the author of the young adult fantasy romance series, Firelight. She also writes adult paranormal romance and historical romance. She talked about her existing books, upcoming books, and writing. She also showed us covers for some of the foreign editions of her books. The author provided some books as door prizes, and the Friends of the Library provided certificates for a few pre-releases of Hidden, which was not yet out at the time of Sophie's visit.
Tera Lynn Childs
Tera Lynn Childs, award-winning author of mythology-based young adult novels, came to Ringer Library in College Station on Thursday, September 13th to talk with readers. Tera Lynn Childs is the author of Oh.My.Gods, Goddess Boot Camp, Forgive My Fins, Fins Are Forever, Just For Fins (July 2012), Sweet Venom, and Sweet Shadows (Sept. 4, 2012). Tera talked about her books, about writing, about reading, and about getting published. She sent signed books to door prize winners. The library has recently added her Fins and Medusa Girls series to our eBook collection.
New Teen Books
Several new books and CDs have recently been added. Check the catalog to see if the book you want is ready to check out. Contact Kendra or Sam to recommend a teen book.
Young Adult Reading Blog
The YA Reading Blog has recommendations of some of the latest and greatest YA books. Want to review a book that you just read and have your recommendation on the blog? Talk with Sam Matush at the Mounce Public Library in downtown Bryan, or call 979.209.5615, or email smatush@bryantx.gov.
