Larry J. Ringer Library has started a crafting club for adults. Once a month, we will have a free craft program for adults. Our most recent craft was recycled art. A new book club for adults has started at Larry J. Ringer Library. All adults are welcome! This club meets on the first Tuesday afternoon of the month. If your love of books is only enhanced by a good cup of joe, the "Books and Beans" book club is for you. All adult ages, genres, and open minds are welcome….even non-coffee drinkers are welcome. Expect good coffee and even better discussion. The next meeting will be held from 4:00-5:15 p.m. on December 8, 2013, in the first floor meeting room at Clara B. The Brazos Valley Area Agency on Aging's RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) and the Bryan College Station Public Library System provide a program to deliver books to homebound senior citizens. Contact the Clara B. Mounce Public Library at (979) 209-5600 (in Bryan) or contact Ed at Larry J. Ringer Library (in College Station) to ask for registration materials to be sent to you. Computer classes in Bryan are being held at the Carnegie History Center on Thursdays from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. For more information about Bryan classes, contact Clara B. Larry J. Ringer Library computer classes are held on laptops in the front meeting room. The library has some, but you are also welcome to bring your own laptop and/or mouse. Reservations are not required, but class size is limited. The one-on-one computer help sessions will be held at a table in the library; for these sessions, please sign in at the Reference Desk.

We have a reading group for adults that meets once a month at Larry J. Ringer Library in the front meeting room, hosted by Peggy, one of our system librarians. There is a "meet and greet" session from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m., and the book discussion starts at 7:00. Contact Peggy at (979) 209-5600 if you have questions. November is National Novel Writing Month. Ever wanted to try writing a book? Take the challenge to write one during the month of November. BCS Wrimos, the local NaNoWriMo group, will be having a kick-off party at the College Station IHOP from 8:00 to 10:30 on Thursday, October 31. RSVP at the regional forum by October 26 if you want a goodie bag. The first official write-in will be held at Ringer Library from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1. Sign up at www.nanowrimo.org to keep track of your writing. Ringer Library will be hosting several writing sessions during the month of November, mostly on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Keep up with the library system through social media. Each of the local libraries has a Facebook page, there is a Pinterest page for the library system, and we have electronic mailing lists. You can subscribe to a mailing list to receive notifications about upcoming events. Ringer Library now has a Twitter page at twitter.com/RingerLibrary.
The 2013 photography contest for adults had three categories: children, pets, and scenery/landscape. Our landscape winner was Frank Corley with a picture of a rocking chair and an American flag. Our landscape runner-up was Vithal Shet Tilvi with a water scene. Our kids winner was Bethany Wright with a photo of a girl and a dog. Our kids runner-up was Kathy Green with a picture of a girl reading a book. Our pets winner was Roger Peart with a photo of a lizard. Our pets runner-up was Frank Corley with a picture of a horse.
