    First Friday (CHC)

    The Friends of the Library will have a table at the First Friday in Downtown Bryan on October 4. They will have used books for sale, information about the fall used book sale, and you can register to become a member of the Friends. The Carnegie History Center will be open for tours from 6:00-8:00pm. If you haven’t had a chance to see the CHC, you should drop by. The renovation restored the building to its 1903 appearance, and there is a spectacular dollhouse among the displays.

    Scribes & Sketchers was so popular this summer that the Mounce Library is extending the program into the fall, meeting every second Friday of the month. Don’t worry if you didn’t get a chance to participate this summer; you can get started now. So if you are a writer or an artist and looking for a like-minded group to help get you to the next level, this is the place to be. Stick with it through next summer, and you could have your work published! Snacks will be provided.     Skype Author Visit: Robert Treskillard (LJRL)

    To help celebrate Teen Read Week, Blink YA Books has set up a Skype author visit for us with Robert Treskillard, author of the Merlin Spiral trilogy. Book 1 is Merlin's Blade; Book 2 is Merlin's Shadow; Book 3 will be Merlin's Nightmare (book 3 comes out Spring 2014). If you would like to know more about Robert Treskillard's books, what it's like to be an author, or have any other questions for him, please join us this Friday afternoon for a Skype visit. We will have a laptop set up so that the author can see us and hear questions people ask, and we will attach the laptop to our projector so that the audience can see Robert on the large screen.

    LJRL Animé Club

    The LJRL Animé Club meets once a month (usually on the last Thursday of the month) to watch animé, Japanese animation. The videos we will be watching will be rated PG or TV-14. The audience will decide whether we are watching videos dubbed into English (English audio) or subtitled (Japanese audio).

    This is the kick-off party for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). Writing sessions will take place throughout the month of November at Larry J. Ringer Library (College Station's public library) and at Evans Library (on the TAMU campus).
