Brazos Writers: Plotting Your Story (LJRL) Event Details

Close

9:30 am – 12:00 pm

Plot sells stories. It doesn't matter how finely drawn your characters are, if the plot is weak, the story won't sell. What does it take to make a strong plot?

Using examples of successful novels, we will begin with a broad overview of the three-act structure and then examine how the critical scenes work to move the story. We will also see how the hero's inner journey and outer journey progresses through the three acts.

If you planning your novel or short story, if you have a first draft completed and are wondering how to revise it, or if you want to fine-tune a story that's getting lots of nibbles but no bites from publishers, this is the workshop for you.

This workshop is supported by a grant from the Barbara Bush Literacy Foundation and is free to participants. This workshop will be presented by Mark Troy of Brazos Writers.

This program will take place in the library's front meeting room. The library's phone number is (979) 764-3416.

You can publish any kind of book that you can create in one summer...children’s picture book, short story, comic book, book of art, poetry, etc. If a Scribe and a Sketcher want to team-up that would be even better!
