    Audiobook Celebration (CBMPL)

Do you love to listen to a story? Do audiobooks keep you company while you drive or work? Do you know children who listen to stories? Would you like to meet a professional narrator? Are you an actor or storyteller interested in audiobook narration? Do you know someone who has difficulty reading because of poor vision, dyslexia, or other condition who would benefit by listening to audiobooks? Would you like to learn how to download e-audiobooks?

Join us for something audiobook for everyone.

10am: Listen to professional narrators Carrington MacDuffie, Thérèse Plummer, and Kathe Mazur talk about how they make audiobooks. Combined, these narrators have created over 500 audiobooks. A drawing will be held for audiobooks for program attendees. (2nd floor meeting room)

11am: Local actors and storytellers, who may be considering expanding their professional repertoire to include narration, are invited to a panel session to hear the narrators talk about the professional art and craft of producing audiobooks. (2nd floor meeting room)

10am – noon: A representative from the free Talking Book Program, which provides audiobooks to individuals who are visually impaired or face other reading challenges such as dyslexia, will explain the program and assist with completing the application. (1st floor lobby)

10am – noon: Library staff will help you register and download e-audiobooks. Bring your smart phone, e-reader, laptop, tablet, or other audio-capable device and walk out with a story. (1st floor lobby)

Intro to NaNoWriMo & Meet/Greet (LJRL)

    NaNoWriMo National Novel Writing Month

November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). Learn more about NaNoWriMo from the municipal liaisons (leaders) of BCS Wrimos, the regional group for the Bryan College Station area, and meet some of your fellow writers.

The regional NaNoWriMo page for the B/CS area can be found at www.nanowrimo.org/en/regions/usa-texas-bryan-college-station.

For more information, see the BCS Wrimos Facebook page at www.facebook.com/BCSWrimos, the National Novel Writing Month page at www.nanowrimo.org, or contact Kendra at the library, (979) 764-3416.

All ages can participate in NaNoWriMo.

There will be an Intro to NaNoWriMo and Meet/Greet event at Ringer Library on Saturday, October 25, 2014, from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m.

This year's kick-off party will be at the College Station IHOP on Friday, October 31 (10 p.m.) until Saturday, November 1 at 1 a.m. RSVP on the regional forum by 11:59 p.m. on October 25th. You can still attend even if you don't RSVP, but you won't have a goodie bag. Also, they would appreciate RSVPs so they know how many tables they need to hold.

During the month of November, the BCS Wrimos will be having write-in's (open writing sessions) at our library on Wednesdays (usually 6:30-9:30) and Sundays (usually 1:30-7:30) and on the A&M campus on Tuesdays (at 7). The last writing session will be at our library on Sunday, November 30, from 4:30 until midnight.

All of the events that are held in person are optional. If you want to just write on your own and check in electronically, you can do that too. For more information, click on the links above.
