The library has subscribed to NewsBank so that we will have electronic access to The Eagle (local newspaper). This is instead of continuing to get microfilm of The Eagle's archives. If you want something older than what is available through NewsBank, you can view microfilm at The Carnegie History Center. NewsBank also gives you online access to some national magazines. To view articles on NewsBank, you will log in with your library card number (bar code from the back of your library card; no spaces). If you have any questions, contact a librarian for help. You can reach the Clara B. Mounce Public Library at (979) 209-5600, Larry J. Ringer Library at (979) 764-3416, and the Carnegie History Center at (979) 209-5630.
The TexShare Databases are commercial database subscriptions that are paid for by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) and the Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund Board for use by registered patrons of Texas public libraries, Texas State governmental agency libraries, Texas academic libraries, and libraries of clinical medicine.
There is no charge to patrons who use the TexShare Databases. You will need to have a current, valid library card from the Bryan+College Station Public Library System. You can then obtain a login and password from either library which will allow you to access the database from your office or at home. You can also access the databases from the library's Internet computers when you are visiting the library. The library's TexShare database website page is http://www.libraryoftexas.org/service-proxy/texshare/?orgid=467
If you have any questions or need help accessing TexShare, just ask one of the reference librarians at either the Clara B. Mounce Public Library or the Larry J. Ringer Library. You may also use the help screens contained in the databases themselves. Each tip guide is provided by the vendor for that particular database. Take advantage of these helpful guides.
