Sail Away with Stories

British storyteller Bernadette Nason has put together a fabulous new program of salty stories to help you celebrate the summer. Even if you can't get to the beach in person, let your imagination sail away with these fishy, sea-faring yarns. Funded in part by a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts.

Schoolhouse Safari

Lucas Miller combines science, humor, puppetry and songs to teach children about the natural world. This "singing zoologist" has performed at schools and libraries across the state and produced three award-winning CDs for children. Funded in part by a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts.

Tales to Tickle the
Funny Bones

This fun-filled, interactive program by Kim Lehman combines stories, props, music, and puppets. Learn to play the spoons, listen to a musical story about a frog, and laugh at the silliness of a very talkative monkey. Funded in part by a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts.

Bryan Police K-9 Unit

Police dogs are a cop's best friend. Officers will demonstrate how Rudi and Drako, two highly trained Belgian Malinois dogs, assist with criminal apprehension, narcotics detection, searching, tracking, and article recovery.

Cruise the Seven Seas

Robbin Major will take you on an interactive storytelling cruise of the seven seas (C's): Cast Off, Sea Chantey, Catch of the Day, Cabin Fever, Capsized Ships, Coconuts, and Crocodiles. Expect puns and a tropical disturbance or two.

Harry Potter Party

9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Celebrate the release of the final Harry Potter book. Activities will include a costume contest, trivia contest, sorting hat ceremony, and a chemistry demonstration presented by the Texas A&M Chemistry Department. Twenty-five copies of the new book will be available for check out on a first-come, first-served basis. Free copies of the book will also be given away as prizes.

Closing Ceremony

Celebrate your reading achievements with storytelling, balloons, and fun! Bring your complete reading logs to the closing ceremony and receive a free book and certificate from the Mayor of Bryan.
