  • 2010 Summer Reading Program

    The Friends graciously sponsor the events for Summer Reading Programs every year for the children and teens of the Bryan/College Station area. This year, we have added an Adult Summer Reading Program.

    Donations of books are also being accepted. Drop boxes are available at both the Clara B. Mounce and Larry J. Ringer Libraries. Books must be in good condition.

    The Larry J. Ringer Library will kickoff this year's Summer Reading Program on June 5, 2010, with a bang. Come join us for fun and activities to get your summer started.

    Scholastic Book Fair - June 5, 2010

    The Larry J. Ringer Library will host a Scholastic Book Fair on June 5, 2010.

    Summer Reading Program Kickoff - June 2, 2010

    The Clara B. Mounce Public Library will kickoff this year's Summer Reading Program on June 2, 2010, with an event to remember. Due to the construction of the new parking garage in downtown Bryan, we will be having a Summer Carnival instead of our normal "Big Rigs" program.

    First Friday Book Sale - May 7, 2010

    Join us on the First Friday of each month celebrating the Revitalization of Downtown Bryan. The Friends hosted a paperback book sale on the front steps of the Carnegie Center, from 5 to 8 p.m. while the Carnegie was closed.

    Spring Book Sale - April 24-25, 2010

    The Friends of the Bryan + College Station Public Library System have a semiannual book sale in the spring and fall at the Clara B. Mounce Public Library. The spring sale was Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25.

    Brazos Valley Reads 2010

    The Brazos Valley Reads (BVR) program was initiated by the Texas A&M University English Department. The goal of this program is simple: unite the entire community with one book. The 2010 book is The Woman Warrior: Memoirs of a Girlhood Among Ghosts by Maxine Hong Kingston.

    This year's reading will be Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the Bryan Civic Auditorium. For more information, visit the Brazos Valley Reads website at www-english.tamu.edu/index.php?id=128.

    Book Sale for Young Readers - March 6, 2010

    The Larry J. Ringer Library hosted a Book Sale for Young Readers on March 6, 2010 in the front meeting room. Members of the Friends of the Library who had paid their 2010 dues started shopping at 9 a.m. (Non-members could join at the door for $20). Hours for the general public were 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Prices were 4 hardbacks for $2, and 4 paperbacks for $1.
