Hi. I’m Dawn! And I volunteer with TEENS Publish at the local library. I’m also an author. I first heard about TEENS Publish at a get-together filled with other writers. Molly Blaisdell, the leader of TP, was one of these people.
I tend to write whatever I’m passionate about at the time, but my books always reside in the young-adult category. My first novel released in 2013 and is classified as dystopian SF. However, my newest project, Scythe of Darkness, releases this June and is YA urban fantasy.
I originally wrote Scythe of Darkness in a dystopian setting. But after revising it numerous times, I deleted that aspect and placed the characters in a contemporary environment. I wanted the story to resonate with readers, as if it were taking place right here, right now. As a book enthusiast, I was enthralled with the Hush, Hush trilogy by Becca Fitzpatrick, and I also thoroughly enjoyed the Twilight saga and The Mortal Instruments. So as an author, I really wanted to write a story that reflected the genre I enjoyed most. And that’s exactly what I did.
