VETERANS OF THE GRAY GATHER FOR REUNION 24 MEMBERS OF BRIGADES ARE PRESENT
Five Members Answer Last Call During Past Year
MEMORIAL SERVICE
To Departed Comrades Final Session of the Day
Twenty-four veterans of the Gray, who fought under the stars and bars of the Confederacy, but not all of whom were
identified with Hood's Texas or Green's Brigades, registered this morning for the 58th annual reunion of Hood's and
the 49th annual meeting of Green's. They formed the small group of survivors, growing less each year, who were
physically able or in position to make the trip to Bryan, their permanent place of reunion, this year.
Reunion Register
The official register of those attending the 58th annual reunion of Hood's Texas Brigade, and the 49th annual reunion
of Green's Brigade in Bryan, June 27th and 28th, shows the following names:

Departed members
During the last year two members of Hood's and three members of Green's have passed on to join their comrades of
other days and this afternoon their names were read in the memorial service held at 3:30 o'clock.
These departed members were James Briggs of Fort Worth and J. K. P. Hanna of Calvert, of Hood's Brigade, and Former
Governor Joseph D. Sayers, major commanding the Val Verde Bat- (Continued on Page 6)tery, Warren McGee, of the 4th
Texas Calvary, and Harvey Halcomb of Company F., all of Green's Brigade.
The reunion, called to order this morning at 9 o'clock in the ball room of the LaSalle Hotel, was carried out as
arranged with the exception that Capt. John H. Roberts, president of Hood's Brigade, and Mrs. Libbie Wade Cameron,
life secretary of Green's Brigade were not able to be present on account of illness. Miss Daffan made the response to
the welcome for Hood's and Miss Julia Wright, granddaughter of Col. H. C. Wright, chaplain of Green's acted as
secretary.
