“Aunt Linda” Ponder is an old-fashioned cook and accidental cookbook author from the Texas Panhandle, now living with her husband Dr. Leonard D. Ponder in Aggieland where she delights in feeding family and friends. She became deeply engrossed in modifying family foods for special dietary needs when her own daughter was born with severe challenges. Her compassion for children with special needs and their families launched her into twenty or so years of state-level policy work for health and education programs affecting children and their families in similar situations, especially in rural areas of Texas. Aunt Linda’s husband jokes with friends that his wife’s goal is to feed everyone in the Brazos Valley at least once! Little does he know that secretly her goal is to feed everyone one in Texas! In Texas even life’s goals are bigger!
Her first book, Aunt Linda’s Lovin’ Oven: Not Your Average Chicken Soup for the Soul, is a cookbook of satisfying recipes that can be adapted to several dietary needs. Each recipe has a story, and Aunt Linda shares those stories with authentic West Texas charm! The proceeds from this book’s sales go to provide CranioSacral Therapy to families in the Brazos Valley who otherwise would not have access to needed services. The Bryan+College Station Public Library System currently carries her book.
