150th Writing Bee for Children and Teens

Join the Bryan+College Station Public Library System in celebrating the City of Bryan’s 150th anniversary with a Writing Contest for Teens and Tweens

The City of Bryan is celebrating 150 years of incorporation!  Teens and tweens, if you have writing or storytelling talent, then why not participate in our writing contest sponsored by the Bryan+College Station Public Library System? We will begin accepting submissions on June 4.  The deadline for entry is June 18.

There are two writing topics. Please choose one:

  • What does Bryan mean to me?
  • What will Bryan be like in 150 years?

Age Groups and Details

There are four age categories:  ages 7-8, ages 9-10, ages 11-14, and ages 15-18.

Writing submissions may be legibly handwritten, typed, or submitted electronically. The word limit is 350 words. Please be sure to include the following contact information along with your entered work:

  • Name
  • Age
  • Contact Information (email preferred)

If submitting physical copies of your writing, please include your contact information on the back of your entry or on a separate sheet of paper. This assures that your entry remains anonymous for the judges.

You will also need to sign a “Copyright Release for Original Works” form upon entering your submission.

How to Submit Your Work

You may bring your work to the Clara B. Mounce Public Library, 2nd floor Youth Services Desk, or you may submit your work via email to Youth Services Librarian Elaine Platt at eplatt@bryantx.gov.

Please remember that the Copyright Release for Original Works must be signed at the time you submit your work.
