Ringer Library to Reopen Sept. 23

Ringer Library in College Station will reopen to the public on Monday, Sept. 23, 2019, at 9 a.m. The library closed on Nov. 5, 2018 for a major expansion and renovation of the building.

The book drop at Ringer Library is currently available to people wishing to return library books.

During the closure, staff may still be contacted through email and can generally be reached at the Mounce Library in Bryan at (979) 209-5600. The Ringer Library phone number, (979) 764-3416, is currently being forwarded to Mounce Library. If you call Ringer Library before it reopens, it is not being answered in College Station.

Construction Update 8/30/19

mostly empty meeting room, books waiting for more shelves, purple computer chairs

The library is expected to reopen sometime in September (exact date TBA, but it will not be the day after Labor Day). The rest of our shelves and furniture are scheduled to arrive next week, and we are still waiting for computers. Events scheduled at the library in early September will still be held in the meeting room, even before the library is actually open (go to the front door to be let in; lobby and restrooms will be available during programs; check-out is unavailable). Our drive-thru book drop is available to return items. Friday, August 30, is the last day that we will be picking up items from the CSISD Admin office.

Here are some photos taken August 30, 2019. For more frequently updated photos, we have created a photo album on Facebook. It is on Ringer Library’s Facebook page, and the album is titled Shelving and Furniture Delivery. It is not necessary to log into Facebook to see the photo album.

Construction Update 7/12/19

Good news! The Ringer Library furniture has started to slowly trickle in. So far we have received 35 tables and four storage carts for the meeting room. These tables and storage carts were purchased for Ringer by the Friends of the Library. They also purchased meeting room chairs that will be delivered at a later date. We received 6 lounge chairs and a bench this week. Items that have been shipped include the benches for the outdoor reading area and the outdoor trash receptacles.

Construction Update 5/29/19

The end of the construction phase at the Ringer Library is done. We are currently waiting for new furnishings. We have received an update from the architects. The new shelving should arrive the first week in August. It will need to be assembled, and the library staff will begin moving books from the old shelving to the new shelving as soon as the new shelving is installed.

The rest of the furniture should arrive at the end of the second week in August. Installation will take a few days. It’s a lot of furniture.

We are setting a very tentative reopening date for some time the week of August 26th. We will announce the actual date as soon as possible.

We want to thank everyone for their patience during construction. Ringer will have been closed for 10 months by the time we reopen in August. We know it has been inconvenient for our members who live in College Station. However, I think you will agree it has been worth it when you see the new Ringer Library.

The new shelving has been ordered, and College Station City Council will be discussing the purchase of the rest of the new furniture at the City Council regular meeting on Thursday, May 23, 2019 (agenda can be found at agenda.cstx.gov/nom). Here are three pictures of Ringer Library that were taken on May 8. The construction is mostly finished. The library is expected to open by the end of August. Photos include a green divider that separates the teen section from the main part of the library. The photo taken from inside a room was taken from inside a group study room at the back of the library and looks toward the front of the library.
