Heritage dances, opera for kids and a singing zoologist. What an artistic lineup!

The Bryan + College Station Public Library System’s Summer Reading Program – “All Together Now” – is proud to feature three Texas Commission on the Arts Touring Roster Performances. The Texas Commission on the Arts Performance Support Grant and the Friends of the Library make these events possible. All events are family friendly so join in the fun!

Great Promise for American Indians dancers

Great Promise for American Indians continues heritage dances of Native Americans in Texas and shares their culture and history with the community. They will perform live dances passed down from their ancestors and share a unified spirit with the audience.

Houston Grand Opera

The Houston Grand Opera will be doing two bilingual performances of “Agua, Agüita” Storybook Opera. Two teaching artists (two because it is bilingual – one for English, one for Spanish) will present an engaging, enjoyable introduction to opera, designed for students in Pre-K to second grade. Two singing storytellers (opera singers) will perform “Agua, Agüita” by Jorge Tetl Argueta. “Agua, Agüita” is a children’s picture book about the importance of water and the author’s appreciation of nature.

Lucas Miller, the Singing Zoologist

Lucas Miller will be doing two performances of his program “Life Cycles” at Larry J. Ringer Library in College Station on Thursday, July 13. The first show is at 10 a.m. and the second is at 11 a.m. Miller’s show shares information about “the growth and migration of monarch butterflies, the metamorphosis of frogs, pollination of bluebonnets and the amazing work of honeybees.” This helps patrons young and old learn more about their community, focusing on kindness, and working together.
